Hair loss advice
You do not always lose your hair, just because you are having chemotherapy treatment. It depends on the drugs you are given within the chemotherapy treatment itself. However, the chemotherapy nurses will talk to you about this and about scalp cooling, which helps to prevent hair loss.
If you are likely to lose your hair due to chemotherapy treatment, the centre can provide practical help in the following ways;
- Weekly wig fitting sessions where you can try wigs on with our visiting our hairdresser.
- Professional hair stylists Sean and James from the Colour Room, in Stockport, are available by appointment to cut and style your wig, inviting you into their salon for cutting, restyling and hair advice. This is a completely free service to patients being treated for chemotherapy at Macclesfield District General Hospital.
