Hospital equipment

The unit

The Minor Injuries Unit is staffed by emergency nurse practitioners (ENP) who have access to clinical support from consultants.

Our staff

The role of the ENP has expanded in recent years, they have skills to enable them to assess, treat and discharge patients who have uncomplicated problems. They can request x-rays, supply medicines (particularly pain relief), suture and apply plaster of Paris if appropriate.

When you arrive at the unit

When you arrive at the unit you will be assessed by an ENP who will determine the nature of your  injury. You may be sent for an X-ray and/or might be given some medicines to relieve any pain. However, if your injury is severe you will be referred to the Accident and Emergency Department at Macclesfield District General Hospital.

Opening times

Monday to Friday - 10am to 6pm (x-rays 9am to 5pm) with a break for lunch from 1pm to 1.30pm.

Bank holiday opening times for the Minor Injuries Unit are the same as Sunday opening times - 8am to 4pm with a break for lunch from 1pm to 1.30pm.
