Staff library service

Located on the 2^nd floor of New Alderley House, we provide a free library and information service in support of patient care to employees of East Cheshire NHS Trust and students on placement. Our collection includes over 3,000 books, journals, DVDs, CD ROMs and specialist databases.

To provide staff with ready access to the latest news and research, we have our own website, organised by clinical speciality and available from home or work.  Staff may also sign up to our Blog for regular updates or subscribe to a wide number of alerts.

The Staff Library provides access to 11 networked computers as well as self-service printing, photocopying and scanning facilities. There is an informal seating area where you can browse the daily newspapers with complementary tea and coffee for library members (funded by Library fines); tables to accommodate group working; bookable computers for in-house training plus wifi to enable laptops, tablets and smart phones.

Our services

A dedicated team of library staff are available to assist you with your enquiries. We offer the following services: 

• One-to-one literature training and research support by the clinical outreach librarian. 
• Group training sessions using specialist databases (e.g. Medline).
• Elearning: customised training and support for all staff including eStatutory and Mandatory, Information Governance, Diabetes modules.
• Introduction to e-resources, setting up alerts, and horizon scanning
• Inter-library loans
• Literature search training and support for community based staff by our community outreach librarian.

Opening hours

The library is staffed between 8.30am and 5.00pm on Monday to Thursday and 8.30am to 4.30pm on Fridays. It can be accessed outside these hours by prior arrangement. Joining is easy; simply bring your current NHS or student ID badge to the library, where you will be asked to complete a registration form.
