HSDU is part of the Acute Business Group and we provide an accredited medical device decontamination service to East Cheshire NHS Trust. HSDU is accredited to EU Medical Device Directive 93/42/EEC, Article 12 Annex V, BS EN 13485:2012 & BS EN 9001:2008.

Our departmental objectives

We aim to provide an efficient and cost effective decontamination service fully compliant with the medical device re-processing regulatory requirements

Our services

Our primary function is the decontamination, inspection and sterilisation of re-useable medical devices for use by the hospital theatres, wards, clinics and various community based clinics. HSDU also provides a sterile consumables distribution service to departments across the Macclesfield District General Hospital site.
