East Cheshire NHS Trust has been named in a list of top-performing hospital operators for the sixth year in a row.

The trust, which runs Macclesfield District General Hospital, Congleton War Memorial Hospital and Knutsford and District Community Hospital, was named one of the CHKS 40 Top Hospitals 2016.

The Top Hospitals award is based on the evaluation of over 20 key performance indicators covering safety, clinical effectiveness, health outcomes, efficiency, patient experience and quality of care.

East Cheshire NHS Trust Chief Executive John Wilbraham said: “Receiving this award for the sixth consecutive year is a strong endorsement of the quality of service we provide to local patients.

“It demonstrates the commitment not only of our acute staff but also of those in community roles who help our hospitals function more efficiently by caring for patients in their own homes wherever safe and appropriate to do so.”

Sarah Atkinson, managing director, CHKS said: “These awards recognise the outstanding performance in those areas which we believe are critical to delivering high quality care. We are delighted that East Cheshire NHS Trust is one of our 2016 Top Hospitals.”

The CHKS Top Hospitals programme awards were held in London recently and attended by over 200 guests including leaders from NHS England, health care sector regulators, and acute trusts.

In addition to its three hospital sites, East Cheshire NHS Trust operates from a range of community bases across the county, stretching from Chester to Crewe.
