A&E sign at Macclesfield Hospital
Additional funding investment for Macclesfield Hospital’s Accident and Emergency Department
05 July 2017

Macclesfield Hospital’s Accident and Emergency Department has been named among those benefiting from the Department of Health’s £100 million capital investment fund for A&E.

The department has been awarded £879,000 by NHS England to support the effective clinical assessment of patients. This will mean patients attending A&E will be seen by the most appropriate member of staff be that GP, nurses or specialist clinicians.

Additional clinical accommodation, reducing duplication of assessment and improved patient experience will be just some of the benefits following this successful bid.

Trust Chief Executive John Wilbraham said: “The receipt of this additional money will allow us to make improvements to the department which would otherwise have not been possible.

“The flow of patients through the department has been a challenge for some time and these changes will improve the service for our patients and also the environment for the staff to work in.

“The work will be completed before winter and we will do all we can to minimise disruption during that time.”
