East Cheshire NHS Trust named diversity and inclusion partner by NHS Employers
16 June 2017

East Cheshire NHS Trust has been made a diversity and inclusion partner for 2017-18 by national body NHS Employers.

The trust was awarded partner status after demonstrating it is improving patient access services, has empowered, engaged and supported staff, has inclusive leadership at all levels, and is delivering better health outcomes for all.

Becoming one of 30 partners nationally means the trust will be supported to progress and develop equality performance and make further improvements around diversity across the organisation.

East Cheshire will also help drive diversity across the NHS by helping NHS Employers understand key equality and diversity-related issues facing NHS organisations.

Rachael Charlton, the trust’s director of human resources and organisational development, said: “We are very pleased to have been named a diversity and inclusion partner and look forward to seeing how we can work with our colleagues at NHS Employers to make further improvements across our organisation.

“Among other positive results, the recent NHS Staff Survey reported that 90% of staff believe our organisation provides equal opportunities for career progression or promotion, placing us above the national average. We recognise we need to build on this further however and look forward to working in partnership with NHS Employers to do this.”

Paul Deemer, head of diversity and inclusion at NHS Employers, said: “We are delighted at the response this year to our call for applications to the partners programme, in terms of quantity and quality.

“We have heard from a wide range of organisations – by both type and geographical spread – and we look forward to supporting them on good diversity practice within their organisations.”

East Cheshire NHS Trust is a combined community and acute trust and employs around 2,800 people in bases stretching from Chester to Crewe. To find out more about working for East Cheshire NHS Trust, please visit the ‘Join our Team’ section of the trust’s website.
