Members of the public invited to East Cheshire NHS Trust's AGM 2017
05 June 2017

East Cheshire NHS Trust's Annual General Meeting will take place from 1pm to 2pm on Thursday, June 29th 2017 in Boardroom 1, New Alderley House, Macclesfield District General Hospital.

Members of the public, stakeholders and trust staff are welcome to attend the event to hear about the trust's activity and performance during 2016/17.

Also included will be a presentation on a potentially life-saving new pilot project in Eastern Cheshire which is designed to diagnose lung cancer earlier. The project allows pharmacists across the area to refer customers they suspect may have lung cancer directly to Macclesfield District General Hospital for an x-ray, without the patient needing to see their GP first.

It is hoped that this will save time in diagnosing the illness which is particularly important as lung cancer patients often fail to act on symptoms promptly. More than two thirds of cases are diagnosed at the latter two stages of the disease (stages 3 and 4), making successful treatment difficult.

A patient with the trust whose own experience of lung cancer prompted the scheme will also attend the AGM to tell her story.

The AGM will be immediately followed by the monthly meeting of the trust’s board, which members of the public are also welcome to attend. The board meeting takes place from 3pm to 5pm in the same venue - Boardroom 1, New Alderley House, Macclesfield District General Hospital.
