Service Consultant Cardiologist

I currently work as the Lead for Heart Failure within the Trust.  I completed my Higher Specialist Training at Wythenshawe Hospital attached to the Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplantation team (2014).  I implant pacemakers and complex devices including implantable defibrillators (ICD) and cardiac resynchronisation therapy (CRT) at Wythenshawe Hospital and provide in-patient and out-patient clinics at Macclesfield District Hospital.

I completed medical school in Newcastle-upon-Tyne (MB BS with merit, 1999) and gained membership to the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP, 2002).  I hold the British Society of Echocardiography and Heart Rhythm UK (devices) accreditation.  I have completed a Doctorate of Medicine (MD, 2014) investigating the optimal method of pacing the heart after bypass surgery.

Interests My main interests are managing patients with heart failure and arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythms).  The heart failure team currently offers a home IV service offering injects of diuretics (furosemide) to patients with decompensated heart failure. I have published research papers on cardiac resynchronisation therapy after heart operations.
