Dr Mudiyur Gopi

Dr Gopi completed his undergraduate training in India and postgraduate training in Yorkshire deanery, United Kingdom. He completed his CCST in 2008 and has been a working as a consultant since then. He joined East Cheshire NHS Trust in 2015 as a Consultant with special interest in Allergy and is currently the clinical lead for the department.  

 

Dr Gail Whitehead

Dr Whitehead completed her undergraduate training (MB BCh) at Cardiff’s College of Medicine, University of Wales. She completed her training in Paediatrics in Manchester, London, Durham and Oxford. Gail joined the trust in 2011, and has a neonatal and neurodevelopment specialist interest and is currently the neonatal lead for the department.

 

 

Dr Surendran Chandrasekaran

Dr Chandrasekaran graduated in 1996 and completed his Postgraduate degree in paediatrics and neonates from the Institute of Child Health and Hospital for Children in 2000. He joined the trust in 2009 with a special interest in diabetes. Dr Chandrasekaran is the research lead for the department. 

 

  

Dr David Wright 

Dr Wright graduated from the University of Wales; College of Medicine in Cardiff in 2001 (MB BCh). He joined the trust as a Consultant in 2011. Dr Wright has a special interest in cardiology and is the paediatric lead for Critical Care and the Named Doctor for safeguarding.

 

Dr Krishnakumar Thattakkat

Dr Thattakkat completed his post-graduate Master’s degree (MD) and Diplomate National Board (Dip NB) in Paediatrics in India. He trained at Alder Hey Children’s hospital and later worked as a Consultant at Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust, prior to joining the trust as a Consultant Paediatrician in 2015. Dr Thattakkat’s is the department lead for the paediatric coeliac service and Clinical Governance.

 

 Dr Ignatius Losa

Dr Losa graduated from the Obafemi Awolowo University with BSC in Health Sciences in 1980 and MBCHB in 1984. He has been a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health since 2004. Joining the trust in 2001, Dr Losa’s special interests include endocrinology, obesity, growth, nephrology and chronic fatigue syndrome, and he is the Immunisation Lead/ Co-ordinator for paediatrics.

 

Claire Finley - Senior Sister

Claire has been a qualified Children’s nurse since 1990 and joined the Trust in 2004, having had a great deal of experience at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

She has had numerous roles in the department including Sister, Practice Development Nurse and acting up as Matron. Claire is now Senior Sister and is responsible for the smooth running of the ward and all managerial responsibilities.

 

Jo Shippey - Paediatric Matron

Jo has been a qualified Children’s nurse since 2004 and joined the Trust in 2007, relocating to Macclesfield from Yorkshire.

She has had numerous roles in the department including Research Specialist Nurse, Sister and acting up as Senior Sister. Jo is now matron for all East Cheshire Paediatric Services and works closely with the ward, community team and outpatient specialities.
