Catheterisation Workshop

Why should I attend: NMC Registered Nurses who wish to develop knowledge, skills and competency in male, female and suprapubic catheterisation

What will I learn: You will explore and discuss the theory related to the three types of catheterisation procedures and practice the required skills utilising simulation models in the classroom.

  • Rationale for catheterisation
  • The male and female anatomy
  • Types of catheterisation
  • Advantages and the risks associated with catheterisation
  • Infection control related to catheterisation
  • Discuss trouble shooting problems, catheter maintenance solutions, catheter attachment and positioning methods
  • Catheterisation practical utilising simulation models
  • Professional accountability and documentation
