Ward 12 staff hold a commemorative ceremony to remember patients lost to Covid-19

23 April 2021

Yesterday, staff from across Ward 12 at Macclesfield Hospital held a rose planting ceremony to remember patients who have lost their lives to Covid-19, as well as those who went on to recover. By taking time together, staff were able to pause and reflect on their shared experience of the pandemic.

The rose was chosen as it is called ‘Compassion’ which reflects the values of the 6C’s of nursing - care, compassion, courage, communication, commitment and competence. The rose was felt to be representative of the care and compassion Ward 12 staff have shown to patients and each other throughout the Covid-19 pandemic

Lisa Minshall, Head of Nursing said: "It is really important to be able to come together to recognise what has happened over the past year. The teams have been amazing and I am so very proud of them. We hope this rose will give them a place for remembrance and quiet reflection for many years to come."
