Hospital appeal to raise £45,000 for patient discharge minibus
10 February 2020

ECHO - the official charity of East Cheshire NHS Trust - has launched a new campaign to raise essential funds for a patient discharge minibus.

£45,000 for a wheelchair-accessible minibus is needed to help patients, many of whom may be elderly and reliant on public transport, to return home once they no longer need a hospital bed.

Julie Green, East Cheshire NHS Trust’s Director of Corporate Affairs and Governance, said: “The discharge bus is essential for the ongoing health and wellbeing of our patients when they are ready to go home.

“We are appealing to the public across eastern Cheshire to help us to raise the £45,000 and would be delighted to hear how you support your local trust, be it through events large or small, every penny counts. Thank you for supporting ECHO.”

The trust will run a series of public fundraising events to kick start the campaign beginning with a book stall to mark World Book Day on 5th March in the main reception at Macclesfield Hospital and the Annual Macclesfield Pancake race outside the Town Hall on Shrove Tuesday. Come along and show your support. To find out more about these events call Abi Sherratt on 01625 661184.
