Care Communities event celebrates collaborative working across Cheshire East

18 March 2024

Over 180 people recently gathered at Macclesfield Town Hall to showcase and celebrate the power of community and the collaborative working going on across Cheshire East.

Hosted by Cheshire East Council, the event brought together all of our eight care communities in Cheshire East with a range of colourful and creative market stalls on display, celebrating the progress being made and sharing future priorities and initiatives.

Colleagues from organisations near and far attended with Medical Director for Primary Care at NHS England, Dr Claire Fuller, providing a talk, in which she identified Cheshire East as an exemplary model of best practice.

Whilst at the event, Claire said: “I was really delighted to be here and was excited at the amount of people who attended from different organisations and the complete diversity of skill set of people that are all coming together to make health and care better for the people of Cheshire East.”

Cheshire East Place Director, Mark Wilkinson said: “This event was so important because its about all of us as partners coming together. What’s been really important is that we have been able to have conversations, make connections and most importantly celebrate because there is lots to be proud of within our care communities."

Ged Murphy, Chief Executive at East Cheshire NHS Trust added: “As a hospital provider and a community provider, this has been a really important event because working with colleagues is how we are going to help the people we serve.

“The event has been about making connections, seeing how far we have come but also seeing how much more we can do together. It’s been a great success and I look forward to seeing the product of this in terms of improved care for the people of Cheshire East."

Care Communities bring together health and social care teams to deliver services that not only treat illness but promotes wellness, self-care and behavioural change and include, GPs, Community Nurse Teams, Mental Health Teams, Social Services, Connecting Communities and others.
