A commemorative tree has been planted in the grounds of Macclesfield Hospital as a special gift from Macclesfield Town Council to say thank you for the trust's hard work in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lynn McGill, Chairman at East Cheshire NHS Trust, said; “We are delighted with the presentation of this very special Mountain Ash tree from Macclesfield Town Council. A thank you to the trust for our work in response to the COVID-19 pandemic over the last two years, this tree will also stand as a lasting commemoration to all those who have very sadly lost their lives as a result of Coronavirus. Now planted at Macclesfield Hospital alongside the duck pond, next to seating, this tree offers a sanctuary for reflection and peace where staff, patients and visitors alike will be able to see this Mountain Ash thrive and grow. I am very pleased that it will be included in the Council’s tree planting programme as part of Her Majesty The Queen’s Green Canopy initiative to mark her Platinum Jubilee.”
Mayor of Macclesfield, Cllr David Edwardes, and Cllr Janet Jackson MBE attended the special tree-planting ceremony, alongside Chairman Lynn McGill, Acting Chief Executive Ged Murphy and Brian Green, Deputy Director of Nursing and Quality.
