Community colleagues from East Cheshire NHS Trust are stepping into the spotlight to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the beloved BBC sitcom 'The Good Life.
Produced by amateur theatre group Congleton Players, the adaption of the show is directed by Rachel Wood, administrator for Congleton and Holmes Chapel (CHOC) District Nursing and Therapy Teams.
Community Coach, Emily Bourne will also be playing the role of Barbara Good, who was originally performed on screen by Felicity Kendal with the show set to take place from Tuesday 10th to Saturday 14th June at the Daneside Theatre in Congleton,
Operating across East Cheshire, the Trust’s Community Services include five individual Care Communities that empower everyone to live independently and healthily for as long as possible, right where they want to be.
Rachel, who has worked for the Trust for five and a half years, said: “I have been a member of Congleton Players for several years as an actor, a producer and in costume/wardrobe.
“This is my first time directing for Congleton Players who are a wonderful community group and local charity and a real joyful place to be.
“We put on three shows a year in our local theatre in Congleton, for the community, starring the community and have won multiple awards and have a diverse range of talents and skills.
“I am passionate about our community pulling together and supporting each other to create high quality affordable theatre, and we are lucky enough to have some very experienced amateur performers supporting new members as well a range of abilities.
“Many members are generations of the same families, and we are so lucky to have this theatre on our doorstep.”
Tickets are available from Congleton Players.com or the Congleton Tourist Information Centre.
