East Cheshire NHS Trust Launches ‘Caring for our future’ – New Strategy for 2026-2031

9 April 2026

As we look toward the next five years, East Cheshire NHS Trust is entering one of the most significant periods in our history. We occupy a unique position in the North-West: while we are one of the smallest NHS Trusts in England by staffing, we serve the third-largest geographical area in the region. This gives us a distinct advantage, as our size allows us to be agile and deeply connected to our areas, while our wide reach ensures we remain a cornerstone of the communities we serve.

The landscape of healthcare is changing, and we are evolving with it. Our population is living longer, often while managing more complex, chronic health conditions. We recognise the pressures these place on our services, from the increasing need for urgent and emergency care to the unprecedented workforce challenges facing the entire health sector. Most importantly, we remain committed to addressing the health inequalities that persist across our region, ensuring that everyone in East Cheshire has equitable access to high-quality care regardless of where they live.

East Cheshire NHS Trust is ready to meet these challenges head-on. Our previous strategy, Our Healthy Future Together, built a solid foundation centred on prevention, integrated care, and constant quality improvement. In recent years, we have matured our care communities and supported a skilled, dedicated workforce that serves as the heart of everything we do.

The next five years are about building on that momentum. Our new strategy, Caring for Our Future, is our roadmap for closing the gaps in service access, embracing innovation to improve health outcomes, and delivering a truly integrated system of care that always puts the patient first. Together, we are shaping a healthier, more equitable future for every member of our community.
