Gena Moors, a former patient at Macclesfield Hospital, has been honoured with the Community Champion Award at The Cheshire Club – The Crème de la Crème Cheshire Business Awards 2025 for her incredible dedication to fundraising.
After receiving care following a breast cancer diagnosis in 2020, Gena launched the Splash of Pink campaign in 2023 as a heartfelt thank you to the Breast Care Unit.
Since then, she has raised an astonishing £59,439.31 through two spectacular charity balls and a series of fundraising events, rallying support from local businesses and the community.
Speaking about her award, Gena said: "I want to thank each and every one of you who has supported me on this fundraising mission – those who helped, donated, attended the balls, sponsored events, and to my amazing family and friends."
The funds raised have enabled the purchase of a new ultrasound machine, which will support earlier and more accurate diagnoses for patients.
In November, Gena visited the unit to see first-hand how this equipment will make a real difference to patient care.
The Community Champion Award, which was sponsored by Aqueous Digital, specifically recognises people who have made a significant positive impact on their local community through initiatives such as charity work, volunteering, or social causes.
