As part of the Greater Manchester response to the national Level 4 Covid-19 alert, the trust has benefitted from the support of 11 military personnel from the 1st Battalion Scots Guards this week. To assist staff with front line services, the soldiers have been undertaking a range of duties including collection of medication and equipment, transporting patients, helping at patient mealtimes, administrative tasks, talking to patients, answering ward telephones and making staff drinks.

Lorraine Jackman, Director of Corporate Affairs and Governance Designate (pictured), said; “We would like to say a huge thank you to members of the 1st Battalion Scots Guards who have been assisting our teams in a range of different duties across Macclesfield Hospital this week. We have received very positive feedback from staff and we are looking forward to working with our armed forces colleagues again next week.”
