Work is continuing on the new Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) development at Congleton War Memorial Hospital, with the installation of several modular buildings last week.
Following the arrival of the modular buildings, the next step in the development is the internal fitting of the CDC which is set to be completed by October this year.
The new facility will be designed to provide a range of diagnostic tests and services closer to home and will significantly enhance local healthcare services by reducing waiting times and improving early detection of various health conditions.
The first phase of the development saw the site undergo extensive refurbishment and equipped with state-of-the-art technology, creating a ‘one-stop shop’ for essential diagnostic tests, allowing patients to access multiple tests in a single visit.
A range of services are now available for patients, including non-obstetric ultrasound, ophthalmology tests, and cardiorespiratory diagnostics, all delivered from this purpose-designed facility.
The same dedicated staff from both Macclesfield and Congleton Hospitals will also continue to provide exceptional care, ensuring a seamless and familiar experience for patients.
The hospital, managed by East Cheshire NHS Trust, celebrated 100 years of service in 2024, after originally opening in 1924 as memorial to the local people who were killed in the First World War.
The development of the new CDC at this historic site will ensure that the hospital remains a pivotal part of the community for generations to come.
