Chair of the Board announcement

1 September 2022

Following the natural end of her tenure, Lynn McGill will step down as Chair of the Board at East Cheshire NHS Trust this Autumn. The news was announced at the trust's Public Trust Board meeting this afternoon.

Lynn took over as Chair of the Board in 2010, having initially served as a Non-Executive Director at the trust, bringing a wealth of experience from a number of leading change roles in industry, with a strong people focus. Under her compassionate leadership and commitment for delivering excellent patient care through a skilled and valued workforce, the trust achieved a Care Quality Commission rating of Good Overall and Good for Well-led, with areas of Outstanding practice.  The trust has also been named one of CHKS’s top 40 hospital trusts in England multiple times under her leadership.

Chair of the Board Lynn McGill said; “It has been a huge privilege to serve as Chair of the East Cheshire NHS Trust Board for more than a decade. I am very proud of the trust’s achievements during that time and most importantly the incredible contribution our people have made in consistently delivering safe and effective care for patients.

“The biggest challenge was undoubtedly the COVID-19 pandemic and I want to acknowledge the trust’s response to this unprecedented situation and focus on maintaining the safety of our patients and staff.”

Chief Executive Ged Murphy said; “On behalf of the Trust Board, I would like to say a huge thank you to Lynn for her dedication and commitment over the last 12 years to the trust, her NHS colleagues and the communities we serve.

“She has led collaboration and partnership working to ensure improved patient outcomes and been a consistent champion for the trust across wider health and care systems.

"Lynn will be greatly missed by her colleagues here and we wish her well in her future endeavours."

The formal process for a successor has commenced.
