The team won the Partners in Healthcare Settings Award, which celebrates the best examples of exemplary joint efforts in premises and facilities management in the healthcare sector.

East Cheshire NHS Trust’s Estates and Facilities team were recognised for their partnership with facility management company ISS who manage the recruitment of cleaning, patient hospitality, security, portering and catering.

Deputy Director of Estates and Facilities at East Cheshire NHS Trust, Rob Few, said: “It has been an honour and a pleasure to receive the Partners in Healthcare award at this year’s PFM Awards ceremony. The awards are one of the most important and highly respected in the facilities management sector.”

Rob continued: “The award is a testament to the work and partnership between East Cheshire NHS Trust and ISS, in what is the 20th year of the two organisations working together to deliver total facilities management with patients being the central focus.”

Lee Clark, Key Account Manager in Healthcare for ISS said: “We are extremely proud of this award and everything it stands for. We pride ourselves on the partnership with the team at East Cheshire NHS Trust and the delivery of the soft FM services ensuring patients are at the heart of everything we do. The staff are dedicated and passionate about the service they provide and none of this would be possible without their continued enthusiasm to get it right. This award is for everyone who contributes everyday non clinical demands of keeping the hospital going.

“This year we also celebrate 20 years in partnership with East Cheshire NHS Trust, and we will use this celebration and award to push forward into 2024 and beyond.”

East Cheshire NHS Trust, which manages Macclesfield District General Hospital, Congleton War Memorial Hospital and Knutsford and District Community Hospital, has seen significant investment into its property infrastructure over the last 12 months through its partnership with ISS.

There has been significant capital investment into the organisation including a new state of the art Elective Treatment Centre at Macclesfield Hospital which is delivering a range of outpatient and diagnostic procedures to help improve patient experience through reducing waiting lists and times.

A low carbon, more efficient heat pump was also installed to reduce reliance on expensive fossil fuel-powered heating through the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS), which is part of a move towards a strategic aim of delivering a sustainable healthcare facility that will meet all net zero carbon reduction targets by 2040.
