Step Into Health

Step into Health is a partnership between Health Education EnglandThe Royal FoundationWalking with the WoundedNHS Employers and 5 NHS regional areas. This group of partners have successfully worked together to create an exciting and innovative programme which recognises the inherent skills of our armed forces personnel and creates the opportunity for them to explore new career opportunities within the NHS.

East Cheshire NHS Trust has signed the Step into Health pledge to support and facilitate Military Service Leavers in their transition to civilian employment. The programme offers potential employees the opportunity to understand whether working for the NHS and the potential career path is right for them. This includes information events and bespoke work experience tailored to each individual. Placement opportunities can be in either clinical or non-clinical roles and are available to any rank. Step into Health connects employers in the NHS to people from the Armed Forces community, by offering an access route into employment and career development opportunities. The programme recognises the transferable skills and cultural values that Armed Forces personnel develop when serving and how they are compatible with those required within NHS roles.

Step into Health is open to all Service Leavers and Veterans and their spouse/partner. It is an incredible opportunity in which employers are working with the Armed Forces Community to provide career and development opportunities within the NHS.

Whether you are interested in catering, maintenance, administration, finance, communications, management, or a role in one of the clinical services, to name but a few, this programme will benefit you. The NHS is keen to invite you to explore your transferable skills and the potential training and career opportunities available.
